The time, effort and cost involved are considerably lower when compared to traditional methods, and has revolutionised medical, dental and pharmaceutical industries in enhancing patients' survival rate and life expectancy. The applications of 3D printing are numerous in dentistry, from oral medicine to endodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, periodontics, orthodontics and so on. This book elucidates the history and manufacturing process of 3D printing, and deliberates the applications of 3D printing in different sectors, with an emphasis on its applications in the field of dentistry. This handbook also enhances the readers' theoretical knowledge regarding recent advances in the field of 3D printing in dentistry.
Dr Aditya Mohan Alwala is a Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at MNR Dental College, Hyderabad, India, and serves as Hon. Treasurer of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, Telangana State. He holds a patent for a 3D-printed TMJ Prosthesis and leads research on custom 3D-printed dental implants. Dr Alwala has over 35 publications to his credit and has lectured at many national conferences.Dr Vidya Hiranmayi Kastala practices as a Periodontist, Implantologist, and Laser Specialist at Sri Sai Multispeciality Dental Clinic, Hyderabad, India. She was an Assistant Professor at Dr. Shyamala Reddy Dental College in Bangalore (2017- 2019) and authored "Novel Periodontal Microflora". With over 20 publications to her credit, she is an editorial board member and reviewer for multiple journals and a Life Member of the Indian Society of Periodontology and the Indian Society of Oral Implantology.Dr Deepika Bandarupalli holds an MDS in Periodontics and has presented papers at national conferences, with numerous publications to her credit.
