Kimberly Jansma received her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. She was Senior Lecturer and French language program director at UCLA for more than 30 years where she taught language and linguistics courses and was in charge of instructor development. In addition, she directed UCLA's Summer French language program in Paris. Dr. Jansma's research interests include pragmatics, technology-enhanced language learning and performance assessment. She has published several pedagogical texts and presented her research at major conferences. Dr. Jansma is a recipient of UCLA's Distinguished Lecturer Award and the Copenhaver Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology. Margaret Ann Kassen, who received her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin, is Associate Professor and past Chair of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She teaches undergraduate French and applied linguistics courses and works with graduate and undergraduate teacher preparation. Her research interests include foreign language writing, performance assessment, technology-enhanced language learning and instructor development. In addition to presenting at conferences, Dr. Kassen has published articles on technology and writing and edited a volume on developing self-direction in foreign language learners. Laurence Denié-Higney is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies at the University of California in Los Angeles, where she teaches language, civilization and literature courses. She holds a doctorat' from luniversité de Nantes in International relations and a PhD from The Catholic University of America in Francophone literature. Her interests include content-based instruction, second language acquisition and French for Specific Purposes. Her research concentrates on the Algerian writer Mohammed Dib and second language acquisition. She has presented papers at major conferences and has articles published on Mohammed Dibs works. She is the recipient of les Palmes académiques.
