Career development in the tourism and hospitality industry has attracted greater attention, leading to a higher recognition of the relevance of formal and industry-specific education and training. New career opportunities emerge as new challenges arise, urging for ongoing and renewed debates surrounding higher-level skills and the development and optimization of human capital. Jorge Marques (Edited By) Jorge Marques is an Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture of the Portucalense University in Porto, Portugal. He is also a researcher at Research in Economics, Management, and Information Technologies (REMIT) (University Portucalense) and the Centre of Studies on Geography and Spatial Planning (CEGOT) (University of Coimbra). He holds a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management and a PhD in Tourism, Leisure and Culture, specialising in Tourism and Development. His current research interests cover tourism development policies, destination management and planning, business tourism, hospitality management, digital transformation, and education and training in tourism and hospitality

Joana A Quintela (Edited By) Joana A. Quintela is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture at Portucalense University and a researcher at Research in Economics, Management, and Information Technologies (REMIT). She has held various operational and management positions in the hotel industry in Portugal and abroad. She holds a PhD in Tourism and a Specialization Course in Hotel Management. Her research interests focus on tourism and hospitality, service quality, health, and wellness, emphasising marketing, sustainability, happiness, and quality of life.

Marķlia Durćo (Edited By) Marķlia Durćo is Assistant Professor and Head of the Hospitality Management Degree at Portucalense University, Portugal. She holds a PhD in Tourism and a Master's degree in Tourism Planning and Management from the University of Aveiro, and a Bachelor's degree in Tourism from ISAG. She is also a researcher at REMIT - Research on Economics, Management and Information Technologies, and GOVCOPP-UA - Research Unit in Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies. Her research interests cover human resource management, employment, education and training, well-being, and quality of life at work, and gender equality in the tourism sector

Medéia Verķssimo (Edited By) Medéia Verķssimo is an Assistant Professor at Portucalense University and holds a PhD in Tourism and a Master's in Business Management from the University of Aveiro. She is a member of the Research Unit on Economics, Management, and Information Technologies (REMIT) and the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness, and Public Policies (GOVCOPP). Medéia has published research on sustainability, digitalisation, territorial planning and development, and communication and marketing management related to the tourism and hospitality industry.
