This personal memoir, dedicated to Anglo-Norse friends on both sides of the North Sea, is a celebration of rather more than half a century of Norwegian experiences. It contains recollections from the four quarters of the country, impressions left by excursions conducted for teachers and students and descriptions of extended summer walks in the fells.
Early travellers to the land of fiords and fells are remembered: so, too, its three realms of nature. The mapping of Norway through the ages and the relations between Norway and the Royal Geographical Society have been of special interest to the author. Each of the thirty illustrations has also been of personal significance.
This is a personal memoir, which follows the author's idiosyncratic but admired "The Experience of Finland", is dedicated to Anglo-Norse friends, and is a celebration of more than 50 years of Norwegian experiences.
