Print (education, U. of Sydney, Australia) and Milner (U. of Montreal, Canada) compile 10 essays that examine how to engage young people in politics and democracy, and civic education applications and programs that may increase their participation. Researchers working in education, sociology, and political science in Europe, the US, and Canada first address specific issues in youth participation, such as the role of civic education, national curricula, the use of e-tools, attitudes and different types of citizenship, and the relationships between political interest and political knowledge and civic education experiences, then different approaches to civic education in different countries, from an education perspective. Contributors first presented research in June 2008 at a workshop in Montreal, Canada. No index is provided. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
