The 2023 update to the Clinical Handbook of Psychotropic Drugs is a compelling inclusion in any clinician's reference library, as it provides substantial coverage of the pharmacology underpinning the psychiatric armamentarium. As a reference tool it is well-organized, has a layout that is easily intuited, and provides evidence-based information not readily available in other well-known texts and apps.

Medications are organized by most-common clinical use. Of particular interest: each section is concluded with a series of medication comparison tables that include the different neurotransmitters and their functions, pharmacokinetics, frequencies of adverse reactions, and overviews for switching medications and augmentation strategies.
