In the second book in their series, the authors discuss authenticity and how it guides the teaching of writing and language to middle and high school students. They describe how authentic writing is written for a real audience, for a real purpose, and in a real forum and provide background knowledge and pedagogical tools to help teachers teach writing in an authentic manner. They explain theory and present rubrics, handouts, assignment ideas, and other materials, as well as examples of authentic teaching and advice from colleagues and authors in English teaching.
