This superb reference, which will be eagerly welcomed by entomologists, presents up-to-date, comprehensive keys to the 125 genera of the Zygoptera in North, Central, and South America. Descriptions, especially diagnostic characters, open the chapters for each genus, followed by keys (with drawings), references, status of classification, potential for new species, and discussion of habitat, including whatever is known about larvae for each species. Beautifully presented, the text is accompanied by a wealth of clear drawings of the components of each insect, with larger drawings for the wings, and a distribution map for each species. The three authors, Garrison (California Department of Food and Agriculture), Natalia von Ellenrieder (CONICET, Instituto de Bio y Geociencias, Salta, Argentina), and Jerry A. Louton (Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History), also co-authored the companion volume Dragonfly Genera of the New World (also by Johns Hopkins). Recenzijos

This is a remarkable piece of work. Highly recommended. -- Jan von Tol Tifjschrift voor Entomologie 2010 This book easily lives up to the expectations promised by the dragonfly volume, including comprehensive, extremely well illustrated keys. -- Dennis Paulson Florida Entomologist 2010 This book is essential for anyone with an interest in Odonata biodiversity and those involved in the conservation of New World wetlands, for which Odonata are important indicators of habitat quality. The authors are to be congratulated for producing a book that is certain to become the authoritative text on this group of insects for many years to come. -- Stephen J. Brooks Entomologist's Monthly Magazine 2011 Garrison, von Ellenrieder, and Louton have produced a beautiful companion to their earlier Dragonfly Genera of the New World... Highly recommended.
