Slim and calm. Those short words are two of the most sought-after results many people - especially women – hope for from a new health regime. Yet in reality what they often get is irritability and weight that refuses to stay off.
The De-Stress Effect turns the powerful – now well-proven – connection between stress and excess weight to your advantage, showing you how you can eat, relax and gently exercise your way to a better body for life. Presenting the latest research on the huge impact that an over-production of cortisol has on our bodies and how we can heal this cycle, it will:
• help you release excess weight and free yourself from the physical and mental effects of stress without starving, counting calories or overexercising
• bring you the new science of smart, not hard, fitness that calms, energizes and sculpts the body
• introduce you to revolutionary and satisfying high-nutrition, low-stress eating that is simple and fits in with your life, your family and your diary!
With a six-week food plan, mindfulness practices, yoga sequences and exercise routines, this book will soothe you back to a happier, healthier you, whatever your life’s demands.

Charlotte's book is my kind of read. I defy anyone to read this book and not relate it to their own life, see where there is room for improvement and, more importantly, use it to help get rid of that dreaded 'stress' that enters all our lives! I love anything that does no harm, is non-invasive and can only do 'good', and this book is that. Great advice, tips and help on how to really de-stress, and keep healthy and balanced in life. More importantly it just makes sense. Good sense. I'm all for it! -- Emma Forbes, TV and radio presenter Chronic stress affects everyone, depletes your mental and physical vitality and increases your risk of serious illness. The good news is that you can reverse its effects, and nurture resilience quickly and naturally. Charlotte beautifully brings together the science and traditions of nutritional, lifestyle and mind-body medicine in an immediately practical way so you can harness the 'De-Stress' effect and transform your life. -- Benjamin Brown ND, The British College of Nutrition and Health and author of The Digestive Health Solution A great follow-up to The De-Stress Diet. Solidly referenced and evidenced by sound science, you won't find any gimmicky or faddy advice here. Instead, it offers very clear guidelines to help you develop an effective stress-management toolkit, using exercise, yoga, mindfulness meditation and nutrition for different stress 'types' to find balance in a busy life. The morning and evening routines for introducing a less frenzied approach to your day are well worth exploring, and the principles for putting together healthy meals allow plenty of flexibility for different preferences and timescales. I will be recommending The De-Stress Effect to my coaching, yoga and nutrition clients. -- Tracy Johnson, yoga teacher; integrative nutrition health coach; career, confidence and wellness coach Stress shuts us down: psychologically, emotionally and physically, cutting off our natural senses and killing our joy.
