This Spanish language text analyzes the role of female characters within the writings of American playwright Lillian Hellman. Four of Hellman's plays, the Little Foxes, Another Part of the Forest, The Autumn Garden and Toys in the Attic are utilized as a means to expound upon her feminist critique. Crespan develops a succinct typology of the roles and characteristics of the new southern women as Hellman observed and represented them. With a focus on the dramatic dialogues to characterize the women, the arguments are clearly presented and logically developed.
