The Islam is one of the most important socio-political topics in Europe. Due to the influence of global political events, as well as religiously motivated acts of violence, an authoritarian and partially plurality-hostile image of Islam has emerged. In this context, intra-Islamic plurality is often overlooked, which reinforces the widespread assumption that Islam is inherently incapable of heterogeneity. However, Islam, as a universal religion that addresses all of humanity, has been and continues to be rooted in many cultures, resulting in diverse understandings and interpretations. This collection of essays addresses this highly relevant aspect for our current context by having experts present the various approaches to Islam.
