The pieces by Swanton himself include not only cricket commentary, but writings on rugby, football, golf and meamories of POW life on the Burma-Siam railway during World War II.
David Rayvern Allen worked with E.W. Swanton on preparing Last Over (1996), some of the material from which is included in this new book. He was, until recently, a BBC producer, and is the author or editor of over twenty books: his biography of John Arlott won the Cricket Society Jubilee Award in 1994.
