Fly home to your heart is such a wonderful book. It's part memoir interspersed with the most beautiful poetry connected to the prose and amazing paintings that illustrate the poems. I found the book to be life-affirming and helpful to my life. Anyone going through turbulent times would find this book inspiring, but equally, it's just such a great book to dip in and out of to enjoy the poems and drawings in their own right.. Kathryn Protheroe, 13th November 2022;

Kate Harris offers us a warm, inclusive, kind and compassionate invitation to reflect on our shared human story through her deeply personal and insightful sharing of her transformative journey. Her words, poems, and paintings, delight and entice as they evoke a sense of commonality. Kate immerses us in the flow and inevitability of life's cycles, referencing nature throughout the pages - its flow, drama, wisdom, fragility and silencing beauty. Kate's shared reflections remind us of the innate desire within all living things to rise, grow, adapt, and ultimately creatively thrive through adversity. Fiona Ameleh 14th November 2022.;

In the broadest terms, Kate Harris's book is about a journey through life, told through the seasons. Using beautiful and original poetry, paintings and prose, each phase of our journey is here with breath taking beauty and honesty. I find myself drawn back to her book again and again to find a phrase, a poem or an illustration that speaks to me, and it's always there." Mary Lou Strong, 16th November 2002;

Reading this book gave me a warm feeling. It is such an innovative idea to explore our own life cycles through that of birds. I laughed and cried and was able to relate to so many aspects of this journey in a very safe way. The way that the book takes you from a piece of writing to a poem and then to the beautiful illustrations seems to flow effortlessly. I read it from cover to cover in under 24 hours and know that this will be a book that I will return to many times. Heart warming, reassuring, powerful and beautiful. Louise Bowden, 16th November 2022;

Fly home to your heart captures the beauty of nature in the inspirational poems and prose and creative paintings full of movement and testament of the birds especially. But under the surface is a deeply emotional journey of Kate's personal experiences, some special and happy some more traumatic which she has managed to overcome by immersing herself in the peace and solace of the Cornish countryside. It is a book you can skim through and admire the paintings and poems or take longer to understand the deeper meaning. So beautifully presented. Elisabeth Burbidge, 19th November 2022;

Kate Harris grew up in Cornwall and now lives and creates in Devon. She started her illustrated memoir in 2020 inspired by the silence in nature around her home. Having worked in mental health for many years, she was aware of the challenges of isolation and yet the beauty of silence for contemplation. She found inspiration, a long-held optimism, and hope for a world in need of nurture and restoration. Creativity is an amazing gift for us to unravel our minds, find peace and fly home to our hearts.
