Stephen Spawls is a herpetologist with a particular interest in the reptiles of East Africa. He was co-author of A Field Guide to the Reptiles of East Africa and Dangerous Snakes of Africa and author of Kenya: A Natural History. Steve has written many key papers on the reptiles and amphibians of the region.

Tomį Mazuch is a Czech herpetologist and author of Amphibians and Reptiles of Somaliland and Eastern Ethiopia.
