While Americans worry about underinsurance in a market- oriented system, Canadians carp about hospital waiting lists in their single-payer system. Seventeen reprints, published from 1988-94, compare North America's two divergent health care systems in regard to relative costs, access, quality of outcomes, and public opinion. The majority in both countries favor reforms in their respective systems underwriting government assurance of access to one-class care. Contributors' affiliations are unspecified.
