Human factors are interactions between people and between people and the environment. They were first investigated in the aviation industry. A team of researchers introduce medical instructors to human factors, how human factors impact patient safety and the day-to-day practice of health care professionals, and how training can mitigate danger from human factors. The topics include human cognition and error, situation awareness, personality and behavior, decision making, and organizational culture.
