This book explores the nature of Indian management and how it can be institutionalized. With an in-depth historical perspective and a thorough analysis of four types of Indian organizations – traditional family-owned private sector; public sector; governmental departments and multinationals–it highlights the styles, policies, and guidelines for management practices in Indian organizations. The contradictions in the Indian system between stated policy and actual practice has also been brought to the fore.

This book investigates what a “workable” Indian management system can be in different types of organizations. Through a historical perspective, it studies the evolutionary changes that the system has undergone since ancient times. It comprehensively brings together relevant concepts with examples and case studies, along with those of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

The book will help students of Management as well as Managers understand the distinct nature of the Indian style of Management. It will be useful to the students and teachers of business studies and management. It will also be an invaluable resource for entrepreneurs, corporate managers, and business consultants.
