Drawn from the Annual Historic Houses of Ireland Conference sponsored by the Centre for the Study of Historic Irish Houses and Estates at the University of Ireland, Maynooth, this collection of essays on the history of Irish country houses showcases scholarship in variety of areas relating to the cultural history of this important facet of colonial and elite society life. Papers touch on houses from around the country as well as Northern Ireland and span a period encompassing most of the twentieth century.
