Phawnda Moore has been active in the worldwide calligraphy community for over 40 years, including being a member of three guilds. Her art and articles have been published in Letter Arts Review, Bound & Lettered, guild bulletins, and art publications. The two major calligraphy suppliers, John Neal Bookseller and Paper&Ink Arts, both sell her first book. Her original alphabet, Letters by Phawnda, was licensed by Chameleon Art Products in the U.K. from 2015 - 2016.
She has taught calligraphy and design classes in California for nearly 20 years, including mini-classes at Letters CA Style conferences, Mendocino Art Center, Sierra College Community Education and OLLI, Crocker Art Museum, The Haggin Museum, retail art stores, local libraries, and recreation and art centers.
While managing artistic communications at county and state offices of education, Phawnda received three national awards: a Clarion Award in 2011 for a style guide for the community college system, and two from National School Public Relations Assoc., 2009 and 2012, for publications she created for educators.
She is a 4-year member of a private, online calligraphy group Scribbled Lives. About 65 professionals from around the world create and post pages of their art in response to members weekly prompts. They also review various tools and products. Their art is featured in Bound & Lettered, a John Neal publication. Phawnda also leads an international mail art exchange for all levels of calligraphers, ongoing since 2016.

Phawnda Moore has been creating with words and images since the mid-1980s. Her first lettering book was selected as a winner in the 2019 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
She was a contributing writer on Empty Easel for 3 years and has written, edited, and designed more than 100 published books, blogs, and articles including for Bound & Lettered, Letter Arts Review, Paper & Ink Arts, Mendocino Arts and TombowUSA. Shes a member of the online calligraphy group Scribbled Lives and several U.S. calligraphy guilds.
Phawnda received national awards for her creative work at county and state offices of education, including a Clarion Award from The Association for Women in Communications and two from the National School Public Relations Association. Her original alphabet, Letters by Phawnda, was licensed by Chameleon Art Products in the U.K.
Formally trained as a graphic designer, Phawndas organic lettering art has been printed on apparel, home decor, wedding invitation suites and canvas banners for fundraisers. She has taught calligraphy in-person for 25 years, where students from 9 to 90 inspire each other as they mix and mingle letters, colors and shapes.
Phawnda lives in beautiful Northern California with her husband, Ron.
