Lonnie Lemur Explores Madagascar
is an unusual reading and learning experience for all children - and adults. For Lonnie Lemur is two books in one: Fiction and Text. And both books are educational. The first book is the odd-numbered chapters. These chapters are a fictional story of an anthropomorphic animal trio exploring the island nation of Madagascar - their natural home. Lonnie and his two companions - Zeke the Zebu and Charlie the Chameleon - travel throughout the island meeting different animals and learning about different plants, while most importantly, observing how Malagasy people live. The second book is the even-numbered chapters. These chapters are informational describing the animals and plants the trio encounters, while most importantly, more thoroughly explaining their observations of the difficulties Malagasy people must endure and undertake on a day-to-day and seasonal basis so to survive in their natural and primitive environment. Although different in written presentation, the information within the two combined books is interrelated, together providing a more in-depth and varied understanding of Madagascar in many of its life aspects, as well as revealing relationships between animals and humans and nature. Hopefully Lonnie Lemur Explores Madagascar will inspire all of its readers to pursue additional knowledge about this isolated nation - its countless unique creatures, its various climates and geographical terrains, its burdensome colonial history, and the many difficulties humans brave daily so to survive the wildness of their island home - and also encourage you to someday travel to Madagascar so to learn more about its wonders firsthand in person - as I did. Safe travels!
