El. knyga: Manual de linguĆ­stica portuguesa

The new series Manuals of Romance Linguistics (MRL), whose volumes will begin to appear in 2014, aims to present a comprehensive, state-of-the-art overview of Romance linguistics. It will comprise approximately 50 volumes that can either be consulted individually or used as a series of books providing a detailed overall picture of the current state of research in Romance linguistics. A special focus will be placed on the presentation and analysis of the smaller languages, the linguae minores , which the two older reference works of the discipline, Lexikon der Romanistischen Linguistik (1988-2005) and Romanische Sprachgeschichte (2003-2008), could not discuss in detail.

Este manual apresenta uma visćo abrangente da investigaēćo em linguķstica portuguesa, combinando abordagens panorāmicas e anįlises em profundidade de tópicos selecionados. O volume articula dados diacrónicos e sincrónicos, do portuguźs padrćo e dialetal, da gramįtica do adulto e da aquisiēćo de L1, explorando propriedades gramaticais caracterķsticas do portuguźs, através dos métodos, teorias e orientaēćo comparativa da linguķstica contemporānea.

This Manual provides a general yet detailed account of the current research in Portuguese linguistics by combining overview chapters and in-depth analyses of selected topics. It integrates diachronic and synchronic, standard and dialectal, adult grammar and L1 acquisition data and offers comprehensive information on specific features of Portuguese, using the methods and insights of present-day linguistic research.The overview chapters feature linguistic fields that significantly developed over the past decades in the context of research on Portuguese (e.g. language contact, prosody, the computational lexicon, forensic phonetics).The chapters covering particular topics in syntax, semantics and phonology deal with new empirical data and current analyses of well-known features of Portuguese such as the inflected infinitive, the pattern of clitic placement, the subjunctive, the reduction of atonic vowels, as well as newer issues (e.g. null subjects, complex predicates, the answeri

ng system, some dialectal phenomena).The volume will be unique as a state-of-the-art collection of papers conceived to be used as a Manual of Portuguese Linguistics in the academic context. The individual contributors rank among the best-known experts in the field.
