This book reports on the discoveries made by researchers studying a collection of 700-year-old Tibetan manuscripts that were uncovered in a cave in Nepals Mustang region. The book begins with background on the Mustang regions history and culture, then describes what researchers found out about the manuscripts age, origins, materials, scribes and artists, patrons, and preservation. Other subjects are the Mardzong texts in relation to the Bon canon, and book-making practices in Mustang. The book includes translations of selected works from the manuscripts, along with color photos of manuscripts, art, and conservation processes, plus some b&w historical photos. Author Agnieszka Helman-Wazny is a bibliologist at the University of Warsaw. Author Charles Ramble is a member of the Centre for Research on East Asian Civilizations.
