'The DVDs provide a practical and step-by-step introduction to Michael Chekhovs excellent approach to acting for the stage. Five gifted instructors bring their personal expertise and in-depth understanding of the work in a friendly and supportive environment.' - Anne Bogart, Artistic Director, SITI Company

'Every theatre person knows all about Stanislavski. They should know Michael Chekhov just as well, but they don't. His work is all about helping actors find the abundant treasure hidden in themselves and bringing it to the theatre with them. These recorded classes give all of us access to his wonderful insights. Like his teaching, they're an inviting exhortation to act in our own unique, eccentric, voice. The only sad part is that they didn't come out sooner.' - Sam Waterston, Actor

'The time is ripe for the release of these wonderful and illuminating DVDs. A necessary compliment to what has come to us of Stanislavsky's work, the Michael Chekhov Technique aims to release untapped powers and sensibilities and enable the actor to find thattruth can have size and scope. Joanna Merlin and company have carried forwardthe work of this master teacher and actor with clarity, joy .. In addition tosuccessfully conveying concepts and techniques, these DVDs radiate withartistry and humanity. I felt taken into the work as if I were in the rehearsal hall myself.' - Richard Feldman, Acting Faculty, Juilliard School

'Of all the modern teachers of acting Michael Chekhov best understood that the art of acting is about the body. His simple, practical, and spiritual exercises lead the actor to a mind-body connection that releases both spontaneous behavior as well as free-flowing emotion. It is a brilliantly transformational approach to the art and craft of acting, and the teachers and students who appear in the Michael Chekhov Association DVDs bring his process vividly and clearly alive. For anyone interested in seeing Chekhov's theories brought to immediate life by a group of actors there is no better source.' - Ron Van Lieu, Yale School of Drama
