Microneedles explores the design, fabrication and use of microneedles for drug and vaccine delivery. This book discusses the contemporary status of the field, describing several areas in detail, including the distinct types of microneedles (dissolving, solid, coted, hollow and hydrogel-forming). The anatomy of the eye is also described to facilitate an understanding of microneedle-assisted ocular drug delivery. Finally, the book provides a detailed discussion of microneedle use in the field of diagnostics, with a chapter dedicated to the mathematical modeling of microneedle-mediated drug delivery.

As microneedles can be used by research scientists in academia and in industry, this book will be ideal for regulatory scientists and graduate students who find the topic relevant to their area of study.

  • Provides information for the design and fabrication of microneedles
  • Discusses choice of materials, fabrication protocol, sterilization protocol and characterization
  • Supplies the most up-to-date research on all aspects of microneedles

Recenzijos

"This book discusses various aspects of microneedle technology, a novel drug delivery system,... [ and] provides an overview of the development of microneedle-based drug delivery systems.... [ R]eaders are expected to find it a handy reference.... In 13 chapters, the author presents the recent advancements in microneedle-based devices by discussing the selection of materials, fabrication techniques, sterilization methods, classification, and pharmaceutical application of microneedles.... This book provides basic microneedles principles and advances and briefly introduces the general fabrication strategies, which the audience will find as a handy reference...." --Rahmat M. Talukder, PhD, RPh(The University of Texas at Tyler)
