Fellow mathematicians honor the work of Anosov (1936-2014), one of the founders of the modern dynamical systems theory and associated most often with hyperbolic dynamics. Some of the contributors worked with him in Russia, others are Western mathematicians influenced by him, and still others are mathematicians too young to have known him personally but whose work extends his. Among the topics are escape from large holes in Anosov systems, isolated elliptic fixed points for smooth Hamiltonians, thermodynamic formalism for some systems with countable Markov structures, spectral boundary value problems for the Laplace-Beltrami operator: moduli of continuity in eigenvalues under domain deformation, and measure-theory properties of center foliations.
