"No area of pathology currently encompasses as many disparate disciplines as hematopathology," according to editor Jones (U. of Texas), "including laboratory medicine, molecular diagnostics, surgical pathology, clinical hematology, and translational science." He has brought this book together to connect hematopathology with recent advances in immunology research and with current clinical practice in the treatment of lymphomas and leukemias. For hematologist-oncologists the book provides a pathologic overview of each group of tumors followed by summaries of the current state of diagnosis, staging, and treatment. Practicing pathologists will find current terminology, diagnostic pitfalls, and treatment overviews. Trainees studying for boards will make use of central concepts highlighted in a study guide and photomicrographs presenting classical appearances of tumors. Experimental scientists and graduate students will find hints on the use of immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and molecular techniques as well as prognostic markers, and new directions for research. Recenzijos

From the reviews:

This is a new book that aims to provide an overview of all neoplastic conditions in haematology. It is generally well written, with many useful diagrams and tables. It is potentially useful for anyone with an interest in this field, including haematologists, histopathologists and scientists. more suitable for an American audience, and indeed includes a study guide for trainees taking US board examinations. I would recommend that it should be available in libraries and within haematology or histopathology departments. (Lydia Eccersley, The Bulletin of the Royal College of Pathology, Issue 153, January, 2011)

Intended as a reference for practicing hematopathologists and surgical pathologists. Pathology resident and hematopathology fellows also will find it useful as a tool for board preparation. It offers an excellent overview of diagnostic hematopathology for hematologists-oncologists. beneficial for experimental scientists and graduate students . an excellent quick reference for practicing hematopathologists and clinicians. appeal to basic science researchers in the field. widely distributed to departmental libraries, and should become a part of the personal library of all hematopathologists and clinical hematologists. (Anamarija M. Perry, Doodys Review Service, July, 2010)
