A research group on children's literature and its translation was established at the University of Vigo in 1992 to help doctoral and pre-doctoral students get started on research in the field. Scholars in that program share their perspectives on the discipline. Among the topics are children and young adults in the history of foreign language learning, an approach to Africanness in Spanish children's literature, towards a feminist perspective on American comics, a critical approach to children's literature in English and its translations and adaptations into Spanish and Galician, sexual representation and sexual stereotypes in Judy Blum's Forever and Melvin Burgess' Doing It, and the social and emotional placement of a character in Walt Disney films.
