Since the Second Edition of LACTOR 2 appeared 13 years ago there have been a number of other editions and discussions published. Taking advantage of these, Robin Osborne has made a number of improvements to the translation, expanded the discussion in the introduction, and updated both the bibliography and the commentary. Although the Third Edition is recognisably from the same stable as the Second Edition, readers will find the enhancements significantly help them to understand this invaluable, but puzzling, ancient analysis of the merits and drawbacks of Athenian democracy.
