"Contemporary Spanish animation has gained public support and international recognition, but how has this process been reflected in female characters? This book analyzes how these have evolved from 1985 to the present day. The social, political and economic changes that the country has gone through have had an impact on the bodies of animated women. This publication shows how these transformations have not only sculpted fictional characters, but have also been embodied in flesh and blood women. Throughout these pages, the different parts of the body, from head to toe, are explored through representative examples of the three phases of this golden age. Understanding what is deformed in their anatomy allows us to identify the prevailing discourses. By analyzing the design of characters and their roles in the film, we observe how tensions and interests from different horizons crystallize to shape these figures"--
