This book does what it says on the coverm, if you are a patchwork and quilting novice you will find Cheryl Owen's instructions great place to start learning to craft. The book would be a useful reference to keep by your sewing machine with chapters explaing the tools you will need to get started, how to quilt by hand and using a kmachine, explainations of hand and machine piecing, the uses of hand and machine applique, instructions on assembling a quilt and how to bind a quilt. The chapters offer detailed instructions throughout and are accompanied by clear photographs to illustrate each technique. The book also includes 20 projects to try your newly aquired skills on. The wide variety of projects are all small so perfect for some initial practise.
