Focusing on South Koreas multiethnic and multiracial transformation in the twenty-first century, topics include the subsequent challenges to the deep-seated myth of monoethnic and monocultural nationhood and the adverse effect of reinforcing homogeneity by naturalizing the racialized boundaries among people from different backgrounds; the social and political issues stemming from the South Korean experience of race as examined through the cross-cutting theme of gender; and the invention of a masculinist mythical narrative from past memory in response to the high demand for diversification and cosmopolitanization in South Korea.
