Editors Bahar Otcu-Grillman (TESOL/bilingual education, Mercy College) and Maryam Borjian (sociolinguistics, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey) bring together essays on the work and legacy of Ofelia Garcia, who uses her ideas on multilingualism and translanguaging to promote racial and social justice, pluralism, diversity, and inclusion. Contributors in multilingualism, translanguaging, and bilingual education, representing different methodological approaches and research designs, offer empirical chapters as well as personal reflections on Garcias role as colleague, mentor, and friend. Material is grouped in sections on remaking multilingualism, bilingual pedagogies and teacher education, bilingual community education, and language policy and language ideologies. Some specific subjects include parental voices in bilingual education, American Jewish summer camps, and translanguaging in an urban social justice teacher education program. The book contains b&w photos, chapter summaries, discussion questions, and a list of Garcias publications. Distributed in the US by National Book Network.
