This artistically designed, large format volume commemorates the seventy-fifth anniversary of the founding of the Irish Folklore Commission in 1935 and includes nineteen essays, both written and photographic, on various aspects of Irish folklore and the work of preserving the oral traditions of the nation throughout the years. Chapters focus on the Commission's various collections and preservation efforts and cover a wide variety of topics from rural life to literature and music, to domestic work. The volume include numerous black and white and color photographs, many of them reproductions of some of the tens of thousands of historic documents in the Commission's possession.
