Dayme and Vaughn present this guide to developing singing skills, whether from scratch or upon a base of experience. The first part jumps straight into the practical aspects of learning to sing, including basics of breathing, warmup, music selection and learning, and private and performance practice. The second part contains sheet music for a wide variety of songs and improvisational bases to use for practice, with suggestions for practice and performance and background on origins. Part three then explains the theory of voice, including muscle and lung function, acoustics, articulation, and maintaining vocal health. The third edition includes 30 new songs, re-recordings on the included DVD, an appendix on group voice for teachers, and minor updates throughout. Other appendices include additional exercises, performance preparation advice, foreign-language pronunciation guide, and some brief music theory.
