Berlin's Swiss Embassy is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive buildings in the German capital city. On the one hand, its location gives the embassy prestige and a strong presence: it is the immediate and sole neighbour of the Federal Chancellery. Moreover, this building in the Spreebogen, a loop surrounded by the river Spree and no longer a built-up area, is visible from afar and from all sides with its bright red Swiss flag. One can see it from the leafy Tiergarten park, from the historic Reichstag or House of Representatives, and from the back of the central railway station or the Spreebogenpark. The embassy building helps shape the skyline of the government district.
